Letter of Demand

Before starting any debt collection process, the creditor must send a Letter of Demand – also known as a Section 129 notice – to the debtor. This letter explains the grounds for the creditor’s claim, gives the debtor an opportunity to settle the matter in a given timeframe, and can be used as the basis for legal action if the matter is not settled satisfactorily.
